Ribbon Cutting for Rev. Ralph Caraway Sr. Field

TYLER, TX- (City of Tyler) What: Tyler Parks and Recreation is hosting a ribbon cutting for Rev. Ralph Caraway Sr. Field at Fun Forest Park on Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m. 

In February, the Tyler City Council approved a request from the North Tyler Youth Baseball and Girls Softball Association to name the previously unnamed field in recognition of Rev. Caraway’s years of service and leadership. 

“This t-ball field is more than a place to play. It’s a tribute to a leader whose mentorship and dedication have shaped the lives of so many,” said Leanne Robinette, Director of Parks and Recreation. “The impact on our youth and community will be felt for generations, and we are grateful.”

Rev. Caraway is the former president of the youth baseball league that once played at Fun Forest Park and has spent years coaching, working in the concession stand and serving on the youth baseball board.     

From 2007 to 2013, he also served as a Tyler City Councilmember. Currently, Rev. Caraway serves as the Senior Pastor of Saint Louis Baptist Church in Tyler, Smith County Commissioner for Precinct 4, and team chaplain for the Tyler High football team, providing spiritual guidance to coaches, players, and staff.
